Billie's Attic ~  Welcome
Poet and Romance Author

Biography

My name is Billie Houston I write Christian themed romance novels and poetry. I am a widow, the mother of three, the grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother to four. I am also a former English teacher and have worked with special needs children.

I grew up during the thirties. My formative years were spent in a small town in West Texas. My dad taught me to read before I started to school. I have always been fascinated by words. I wrote my first poem when I was ten-years-old, and my first short story when I was fifteen.

When I was in the seventh grade, I discovered Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters and fell in love with romantic novels. Since then, I have been a devoted fan of happy-ever-tales.

I hold a graduate degree in psychology from the University of Texas. I have six valid teacher certifications. My first novel was published in 1998. Today I have over twenty novels, five books of poetry, numerous essays and short stories, and one how-to-write book to my credit.

My venture into Christian themed romances began when my husband of many years fell victim to Alzheimer's. He passed away in 2015.

I write romantic tales about relationships, stories that revolve around ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances, and faced with difficult decisions as they explore the problems and joys of living a Christian life.

I like poetry, old movies, and Earl Grey tea. My hobbies are reading, crocheting, and growing house plants and herbs. I am an avid Texas history buff, and a life-long fan of country music.

Blessings,
Billie
